Welcome to Lakehurst Bungalow

The Lakehurst Bungalow is the cozier of our two Lake Erie cottages: about 1,700 square feet with four bedrooms and 2+ baths, sleeping up to 10, a natural fit for one or two families rather than a full reunion crowd. Two things make it special. First, the private balcony, which looks out over the lake. Second, the converted garage rec room, an extra living space beyond the family room and sitting room, so the group has more than one place to gather. Need more beds? Rooms and sleeping arrangements

• Beds: two queen beds, one double bed, and one room with two twin beds
• Extra sleeping: two double futons in the family room
• Layout: one bedroom is on the first floor; the other three are upstairs, and one of the upstairs bedrooms has a private half bath

In total the bungalow sleeps up to 10, with linens provided. There are two full bathrooms, one on each floor (one has a bathtub), plus the half bath off the upstairs bedroom; that’s the “2+” on our listings.

Kitchen and living areas

The galley kitchen is fully supplied for anything from Sunday brunch to Thanksgiving dinner, with a dishwasher, coffee maker, and toaster, and the dining area seats 8 to 10 so everyone eats at once. For downtime there are three separate spaces: the family room with the two futons and a TV, a quieter sitting room, and the converted garage rec room with a second dining table, a bar with stools, a foosball table, and a sofa. Large windows keep the rooms bright, water views turn up all over the house, and smart TVs with streaming plus WiFi cover the rainy afternoons.

Outside

The private balcony looks out over Lake Erie and suits morning coffee or a quiet evening drink; the deck sits just below it. The yard is about an acre, with green space, Adirondack chairs, a fire pit (firewood provided), and a gas grill for cookouts. A gravel walkway runs down to a boardwalk with umbrellas at the private beach, which is shared only between the owner and two other properties. Beach equipment is provided.

Is the beach private? Yes. Access is shared only between the property owner and two other properties. A gravel walkway leads down to a boardwalk with umbrellas, and beach equipment is provided.

How many cars can we park? The blacktop driveway holds 4 vehicles, and extra parking can be arranged with the host.

Is there a minimum stay? Two nights in the off-season, three nights during peak summer and holidays.
